Community Dinner is a special outreach - it is for anyone who would like a nice meal and a little community fellowship.  Although the first floor space is very raw, it is amazing what lowered lights, a couple tablecloths, flowers, candles, candy for table scatter, appetizer plates and ambient music can do to make a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.  For many who do not have the opportunity to have a pleasant dining experience, it is the chance to do so.

Rev. Pat serving baked dreaded fish and vegetables

The serving team of Rev. Pat Bumgardner, Ernesto Declet-Ross, and John Phelps has it down to a science.  After Rev. Pat's opening with a prayer, the machine team pulls out all the stops in serving people their drinks and meals with kindness (combined with efficiency!) and genuine care.

Appetizers have ranged from tuna sald with dill weed on flax crackers to prosciutto-wrapped watermelon to grapes and cheese; entrees from baked salmon over asparagus to parmesan-crusted chicken to turkey meatloaf to spaghetti and meatballs.  And of course, there is always a great dessert.

If ever in the area on Community Dinner day, consider partaking in the meal, either as a guest or as part of the serving team!  All are welcome and all walk away with the memory of a tasteful and satisfying communal experience.
